Human Skin Deformation from Cross-Sections

چکیده
A new approach for human skin modeling and deformation based on cross-sectional methods is presented in this paper. Internally, we use dynamic trimmed parametric patches for describing the smooth deformation of skin pieces; then we polygonalize parametric patches for final body skin synthesis and rendering. Simple and intuitive, our method combines the advantages of both parametric and polygonal representations, produces very realistic body deformations, and allows the display of surface models at several levels of detail.

Sweep-based Approach to Three-Dimensional Shape Deformation
We present a sweep-based approach to modeling and deformation of three-dimensional objects. We approximate the deformable parts of an object using sweep surfaces. The vertices on the object boundary are bound to the sweep surfaces and then follow their deformation. For practical applications, we apply this approach to 3D human body modeling and deformation, and then extend it to the freeform de...
متن کاملStudy of the Integration of the CNU-TS-1 Mobile Tunnel Monitoring System
A rapid, precise and automated means for the regular inspection and maintenance of a large number of tunnels is needed. Based on the depth study of the tunnel monitoring method, the CNU-TS-1 mobile tunnel monitoring system (TS1) is developed and presented. It can efficiently obtain the cross-sections that are orthogonal to the tunnel in a dynamic way, and the control measurements that depend on...
متن کاملRelations between fusion cross sections and average angular momenta.
We study the relations between moments of fusion cross sections and averages of angular momentum. The role of the centrifugal barrier and the target deformation in determining the eeective barrier radius are clariied. A simple method for extracting average angular momentum from fusion cross sections is demonstrated using numerical examples as well as actual data.
متن کاملProjectile deformation effects on single-nucleon removal reactions
We discuss intermediate-energy single-nucleon removal reactions from deformed projectile nuclei. The removed nucleon is assumed to originate from a given Nilsson model single-particle state and the inclusive cross sections, to all rotational states of the residual nucleus, are calculated. We investigate the sensitivity of both the stripping cross sections and their momentum distributions to the...
متن کاملElastic Tubes: Modeling Elastic Deformation of Hollow Tubes
The Cosserat theory of elastic rods has been used in a wide range of application domains to model and simulate the elastic deformation of thin rods. It is physically accurate and its implementations are efficient for interactive simulation. However, one requirement of using Cosserat rod theory is that the tubular object must have rigid cross-sections that are small compared to its length. This ...
